General Submission Policy

Authors are invited to submit original research articles and systematic literature reviews that align with the aims and scope of Primary Education Insight. Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Indonesian at the initial submission stage, using clear, academic, and formal language, and must strictly follow the journal’s official template and formatting guidelines.

However, all manuscripts accepted for publication must be written in English. Authors who submit manuscripts in Indonesian are required to translate and revise the final accepted version into standard academic English prior to publication. The responsibility for ensuring linguistic accuracy and clarity in the English version rests entirely with the authors.

Submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal’s scope, thematic alignment, originality, and basic quality standards. Manuscripts that pass this stage will be reviewed through a double-blind peer-review process. Submissions that do not meet minimum quality, ethical, or formatting requirements may be desk rejected without external review.

Word Count Requirements:
Manuscripts must be between 6,000 and 9,000 words, inclusive of the abstract, title page, tables, figures, and references.

Ethical and Legal Considerations

Prior to submission, authors must ensure that the following conditions are met:

  • Copyright and permissions: Authors are responsible for securing permission to use any third-party copyrighted material (e.g., images, tables, figures, or datasets) included in the manuscript.
  • Authorship consent: All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the manuscript and must consent to authorship.
  • Ethical clearance: Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data must have received approval from an appropriate ethics committee, in accordance with the regulations of the country in which the research was conducted.

Manuscript Structure and Formatting

Manuscripts must be prepared using the following structure and formatting:

Title Page

The title page should be formatted according to the structure outlined below, using Times New Roman font with the specified sizes:

  • Title of the manuscript: Title case, bold, left-aligned, 14 pt font; maximum 20 words; concise and informative.
  • Author name(s): Listed below the title, 11 pt font.
  • Author affiliation(s): 9 pt font, indicated using superscript Arabic numerals (e.g., ¹, ², ³).
  • Institutional address(es): 9 pt font, referring to the institution(s) where the research was conducted.
  • Corresponding author details: Full name, institutional address, and email address in 9 pt font. The corresponding author will handle all editorial correspondence.

Abstract and Keywords

Abstract (Times New Roman, 9 pt, bold):

Each manuscript must include an abstract of no more than 250 words, written in English. The abstract should concisely state the research purpose, methodology, key findings, and significance. It must be self-contained and should not repeat wording from the title.

Keywords (Times New Roman, 9 pt, normal):

Provide up to six keywords, listed in alphabetical order. Keywords should be specific, discipline-relevant, and avoid general terms, conjunctions, or uncommon abbreviations.

Main Sections

INTRODUCTION:

The introduction should include:

  • Background of the study
  • Research problem
  • Review of relevant prior studies and identification of the research gap
  • Novelty or originality supported by references from the last 10 years
  • Research objectives and hypotheses or research questions
  • Contributions or expected benefits of the study

LITERATURE REVIEW:

Mandatory for original research articles. This section discusses relevant theories and empirical studies. Use Heading 2 for major themes and Heading 3 (italicized, not bold) for subtopics. Numbering is not permitted.

METHODS:

This section must be organized under the following subheadings (Heading 2):

  • Research Design
Describes the overall research approach, design, and methodological framework employed in the study.
For empirical studies, this subsection may be combined with the “Research Sample or Participants” subsection when the research design and participant characteristics are closely related and more clearly explained as a single integrated section.
  • Research Sample or Participants
Explains the characteristics of the research sample or participants, including selection criteria, sample size, and relevant demographic information where applicable.
This subsection may be merged with the “Research Design” subsection if doing so improves clarity and coherence.
  • Data Collection
Details the instruments, procedures, and techniques used to collect data, including timelines and data sources.
  • Data Analysis
Describes the analytical procedures and techniques used to process and interpret the data, including statistical, qualitative, or mixed-methods approaches.

For Review Articles
For systematic literature reviews, scoping reviews, or other review-based articles, the structure of the METHODS section may be adapted to reflect the review methodology. Authors should clearly describe, as applicable, the review design (e.g., PRISMA-based procedures), data sources or databases, search strategies, inclusion and exclusion criteria, screening processes, and methods of data synthesis or analysis.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:

May be presented as a combined section or as separate sections.

  • Combined, where results are directly interpreted and discussed with reference to relevant literature; or
  • Separated, consisting of:
    • RESULTS: Presentation of findings from descriptive or inferential analysis

    • DISCUSSION: Interpretation of findings, comparison with previous studies, and explanation of implications

CONCLUSION:

Summarizes the main findings, includes research limitations, and outlines practical or theoretical implications.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT (optional):

Recognizes contributors, institutions, or funders who supported the research.

REFERENCES:

All references must follow APA 7th edition format. A minimum of 30 references is required, with at least 80% drawn from primary sources published within the last 10 years. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or Reference Manager.
